More on the Bentley Continental GT3-R's power and performance

27th June 2014

Bentley previously announced that the new Continental GT3-R would be unveiled at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed as an addition to the GT3 line-up. Now, more is known about the car's uprated power levels and dynamism.

Initial reports of 700bhp from the engine have now been revised to the impressive 572bhp, delivered by a roaring 4.0-litre twin turbo V8. It sprints from 0-60mph within four seconds, thanks to a lightweight build that shaves 100kg from the preceding GT V8 S.

An all-new titanium exhaust system has removed a further 7kg, with special acoustic tuning for a 'baritone roar'. Torque vectoring comes to the Continental range for the very first time, and the eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox supports smooth, comfortable motoring in an all-wheel drive.

Motorists also have full details on the refined yet purposeful design of the car. As seen at Goodwood, the GT3-R is styled with a new front splitter, 21-inch wheels, exclusive Glacier White paintwork and glossy black accenting over the headlights, grille and window surrounds. The model is now a two-seater – the pair of bolstered sports seats is upholstered in a mix of Beluga black leather and diamond-quilted Alcantara.
