Dacia success lifts Renault Group sales

Dacia’s success across Europe has allowed Renault Group - the Romanian manufacturer’s parent company – to claim a five percent gain in global sales during the first half of 2014. The news will come as little surprise to those familiar with the budget carmaker, as it has managed to steal market share away from its competitors by offering low-priced models that don’t compromise on quality.
Sales of Renault Group cars and light commercial vehicles jumped from 1.3 million during the first six months of 2013 to 1.37 million this year, spurred on by key Dacia vehicles. The new Duster SUV and Sandero hatchback contributed to a 24 percent rise in Dacia’s own first-half European sales, and helped Renault Group to an 18 percent European sales increase during the same period. The group’s 776,236 deliveries bettered an overall market increase of seven percent.
Following the sales figures, Renault has taken action to revise its 2014 industry-wide growth estimates for Europe to between three and four percent, up from two to three percent.
Dacia’s achievements stem from its no-frills approach to vehicle design, offering motorists precisely what they need inside while delivering capable and efficient performance. And the manufacturer’s appeal looks set to grow as more drivers recognise its low-cost benefits.
