Sales of Hyundai vehicles in the US reach nine million

21st July 2014

News has broken of Hyundai breaking the nine-million barrier for vehicles sold in the US to date. The South Korean manufacturer has enjoyed consistent success since entering the market 28 years ago.

An initial launch with the Hyundai Excel in 1986 proved successful, and the manufacturer reached one million cars sold just four years later. The Excel is still the third most popular Hyundai to American drivers.

In the region, the top seller is the Sonata saloon – over 2.2 million US customers have made the new vehicle their own. A brand new Sonata which launched this year is enticing motorists to dealerships yet again, showcasing the Hyundai ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design language to a new generation.

The growth of Hyundai in the US has been accelerating, to the point that it’s predicted the ten-million milestone could be reached before the end of 2015.

In the UK the manufacturer has been supporting one of the most prolonged increases in market growth for the whole of Europe. The Sonata is known here as the i40, a reliable mid-sized car with plenty of appeal to families.
