New Jeep Wrangler in Belfast, Northern Ireland

New Jeep Wrangler models available from Charles Hurst Jeep, which is an authorised Jeep dealership,  located in Belfast Northern Ireland.  The Jeep Wrangler is renowned for its supreme off road capability, but it feels like a proper car on the tarmac too. Thanks to its removable hard top you’ll have some stunning panoramic views of the road ahead.

Available as a three or five door, and with a standard kit that includes alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control and leather-trimmed seats, the all new Jeep Wrangler is the ultimate off roader.

Engines

There are three different versions of the Jeep Wrangler available and the engine options for each are slightly different.

The YJ version of the Jeep Wrangler offers the option of a 2.5 litre AMC 150 I4 or 4.2 litre AMC 258 I6 engine. Both of these engines are fairly standard for SUV-type vehicles, such as the Jeep Wrangler. In later versions of the vehicle, a fuel-injected 4.0 litre AMC 242 is available, rather than the 4.2 litre AMC 258 I6. The 4.0 litre AMC 242 was announced as being one of the best 4x4 engines in history by Four Wheeler magazine.

In terms of the TJ version of the Jeep Wrangler, the 2.5 litre AMC 150 I4 and 4.0 litre AMC 242 are still available, in addition to the 2.4 litre PowerTech I4, which was a short-lived engine model.

Of all the versions of the Jeep Wrangler, I am most familiar with the JK version and I prefer the engine options that the JK version features to those of the other two versions. These engine options are the 3.8 litre EGH V6 and 3.6 litre Pentastar V6. The former produces around 215bhp, and the latter 288bhp. Both of these engines are considerably more powerful than those of the YJ and TJ version of the Jeep Wrangler.

Safety

The Jeep Wrangler has always been equipped with a roll cage, but later versions of the YJ version feature an extended roll cage, which allows for shoulder belts in the rear. The extended roll cage is also a feature on the TJ and JK Jeep Wranglers. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is also standard on most versions of this SUV.

In the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash tests, the JK version of the Jeep Wrangler received a rollover rating of three stars, along with a frontal crash test rating of five stars.

Style

The style of the Jeep Wrangler is largely the same across the three different models. This vehicle is noted for its interior spaciousness; both the YJ and TJ versions were available only in two-door form. In the case of the JK version of the Jeep Wrangler, there are more style options, including a four-door version.

Particularly in the YJ version, a notable stylistic feature of the Jeep Wrangler is that the top is finished in a different colour to the rest of the body of the vehicle.
