Kia's Carens MPV has been completely revamped for 2013, with fresh styling, a smart, roomy interior and excellent comfort adding to this seven-seater's appeal to active families.
The new Carens has been given the marque's distinctive "tiger nose" front grille, bringing it into line with the rest of Kia's new designs. Narrower, wider headlamps equipped with LED daytime running lights, along with the chrome window surroundings, strengthen the dynamism of the updated model
Inside, drivers are favoured with an elevated seating position and a well-designed dashboard where all the controls are easily at hand. The Carens is also hugely practical and spacious; plentiful headroom, legroom and shoulder room is available to seven passengers. With the second and third row of seats folded, this increases to a maximum of over 1,600 litres.
Two diesel engines, as well as a petrol alternative, are offered with the new Carens. The pair of 1.7 litre turbodiesels offer 114bhp or 134bhp. The less powerful unit delivers combined fuel economy of 60.1mpg and low CO2 emissions of just 124g/km; meanwhile, the more potent diesel delivers maximum torque of 329Nm, along with economy figures that are nearly as impressive (56.4mpg and 132g/km). The petrol engine, meanwhile, offers 133bhp as well as refinement to match its diesel counterparts.
