The Kia success story continues with the news that the manufacturer broke its monthly sales record in May 2014.
The South Korean brand delivered 6,015 vehicles to motorists during the period, a rise of more than seven percent when compared to May 2013's figures of 5,604. Retail buyers led the upsurge, as their purchases jumped by 13 percent.
With over 33,000 models sold in 2014 so far, Kia has already surpassed its 2013 sales total of 30,436, and took just five months to beat 2008's total. Spearheading this growth in the UK is the Sportage, which was delivered to 1,722 motorists during May. The Picanto, cee'd and Rio follow the SUV as the carmaker's most popular models.
Kia Motors UK president and chief executive Paul Philpott commented: "It is vital for the strength of the brand and for the profitability of our dealer network that we do not simply rely on one model to deliver our growth – and these figures show that we continue to appeal to all kinds of car buyers
"Kia is not a 'one-trick-pony' brand and with the all new Soul attracting a strong demand in its first full month I am confident we shall continue to grow in 2014."
