New Land Rover Discovery models available from an authorised Land Rover dealership, Charles Hurst Land Rover, located in Belfast Northern Ireland. The Land Rover Discovery is everything you would expect from a vehicle that was crowned ‘Best 4x4’ 2010 by WhatCar. An excellent all-rounder on and off road, the new Land Rover Discovery is loaded with the latest performance, safety and security features as standard, including four-corner suspension and Land Rover’s unique Terrain Response system.
With ample space for seven people, this supreme family car is both superbly versatile and executive looking.
There are four different generations of the Land Rover Discovery and the engine options for each differ. The first generation of this vehicle offers a trio of inline-four cylinder engines and a trio of V8s. The inline-four engine is available in 2.0 litre and 2.5 litre versions, while the V8 engine is available in 3.5 litre, 3.9 litre and 4.0 litre form.
The second generation of this vehicle includes a 2.5 litre turbo diesel option, as well as 4.0 litre and 4.6 litre V8s.
For the third generation of the Land Rover Discovery, V6 engines were introduced for the first time. There are two V6 options, a 2.7 litre and a 4.0 litre. There is also a 4.4 litre V8 engine available for the third generation of the vehicle.
Finally, in the fourth generation of the Land Rover Discovery, the engine options are the same 2.7 litre V6 offered in the third generation, in addition to a 3.0 litre turbo diesel and a 5.0 litre V8.
The first two generations of the Discovery were fitted with a four-speed automatic transmission, as well as a five-speed manual option. The latter two generations have six-speed transmissions, both manual and automatic.
In the Euro NCAP crash tests, the Land Rover Discovery scored four out of five stars in both the adult occupant protection and child occupant protection categories.
In terms of safety features, the Land Rover Discovery is well equipped. There are no less than eight airbags distributed throughout the vehicle, which helps to ensure that the driver and all passengers are protected in the event of an accident.
To help make driving downhill smoother, the Land Rover Discovery is equipped with hill descent control (HDC). Electronic traction control (ETC) is another option that helps to make driving safe and smooth, even when tackling exceptionally muddy or icy conditions.
There are several stability features on this vehicle, including Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Roll Stability Control (RSC) and Trailer Stability Assist (TSA).
Other standard features, such as an anti-lock braking system (ABS), are also a part of the Land Rover Discovery’s safety package.
A mid-size SUV, the Land Rover Discovery has maintained a consistent style across all of its model upgrades. Though the first generation had the option of a three-door body style, all later models are only available in the five-door style.
The colour options available for the Land Rover Discovery are Fuji White, Aintree Green, Bournville, Baltic Blue, Firenze Red, Indus Silver, Ipanema Sand, Marmaris Teal, Nara Bronze and Siberian Silver.
