The Range Rover certainly deserves its accolade as the world's most capable, luxury 4x4. Packing a powerful 4.4 litre V8 engine under the bonnet, the new improved Range Rover is more powerful and economical than ever.

The Range Rover's new, direct-injection supercharged V8 5.0-litre engine develops 503bhp at 6500rpm and 461lb ft of torque between 2500 and 5500rpm, 29% more powerful than the previous version with 12% more torque. At the same time, consumption and emissions have dropped to 19mpg and 348g/km. The 0-60mph time has come down to 5.9sec, and the top speed is up to 140mph. The power units are used across the model range, improving the performance of the Sport and Evoque.
The Evoque is something of a change of direction, bringing together dynamic handling and refined engineering to work with the Evoque's compact footprint to deliver exciting performance combined with the lowest fuel consumption of any Range Rover so far. Opting for the eD4 2WD Diesel engine will optimise fuel economy still further.
Styling changes have softened the old Range Rover look a little, but without detracting from that iconic style. New side vents that might look more at home on the Sport are the most obvious sign of the revamp, apart from the decision to denote a new hierarchy for the Range Rover clan. Now the classic model sports a three-bar front grille, plus side vents with three bars. The Sport has these in twos, with LED lights front and rear, a circle of running lights at the front, and smoke-effect finish at the back. A revised front bumper and exhausts mingle to give the 2010 Range Rover Sport a sleeker look. The Evoque is sleeker still, with a striking silhouette and the convenience and practicality of five doors.
The Range Rover's interior has had the most attention, with main dials replaced by a TFT screen that displays virtual dials looking something like the old ones. A new central touch screen is equipped to display different images to the front-seat passenger and driver, meaning the passenger can watch TV while the driver gets on with the serious business. Range Rover has also upgraded the cabin materials, including an optional lavish all-leather headlining.
