Lexus fans recently took to Facebook to enter an online competition: name the striking orange colour of the anticipated RC F. The response was immense and, after a lot of consideration, the name ‘Solar Flare’ was chosen by Lexus director Richard Balshaw.
The name was selected to portray the captivating colour and the excitement of the car, mixing the performance with its visual appeal. It also matches the power of the vehicle, which is derived from a 5.0-litre V8 under the hood producing more than 450bhp and 520Nm of torque. Top speed should reach an impressive 270mph, putting the RC F in a category of sports car which is exceptional even for Lexus.
In addition to this enviable performance, the design means that fuel can be saved as the engine switches between three modes - standard, slalom and track. The carbon fibre roof, bonnet and rear wing help with the car’s agility, as the body is much more lightweight as a result. An eight-speed automatic transmission and a torque-vectoring gearstick will assist owners of the RC F in driving smoothly.
The Lexus RC F will be available by late 2014. To pre-order and learn more about this bright, energetic car, contact the Charles Hurst Lexus team in Belfast.
