The Nissan Qashqai’s winning streak is extended

At the Tow Car Awards 2014, the all-new Nissan Qashqai has been named as the ‘Overall Winner’ – scooping the most coveted award of the night.

The model was reintroduced in January 2014 and has continued to change and redefine the entire crossover segment.

A panel of judges from the Camping and Caravanning Club and industry magazines including What Car? and Practical Caravan had 56 vehicles to choose from. All were tested for their torque and braking, stability at higher speeds, noseweight and the ability to make confident, safe hill starts.

The Qashqai at the Acenta Premium trim with a 1.6-litre diesel engine was the version trialled by the panel. As well as impressing in the main test categories, it impressed with a generous boot volume and 1.8-tonne maximum braked towing limit. It won both its kerb weight category and the overall award, cementing its position as the model of choice for caravanners and those who need the most reliable towing vehicle.

Winning the award lengthens the run of prizes and accolades for the all-new Qashqai, which became What Car?’s ‘Car of the Year’ in under six months since the January launch. Diesel Car magazine awarded the Qashqai a similar prize, and the vehicle has further triumphed as the ‘Best Crossover’ at the Fleet World Car Awards.
