Peugeot supports budding rally driver

Alongside participation in the world's most exciting motorsports events, Peugeot is also supporting the industry at grassroots level by giving a young driver an amazing opportunity.

Chris Ingram was spotted by Peugeot after a number of high-profile racing wins. He was already the youngest driver ever to win the 'Colin McRae European Rally Championship Flat Out' trophy, and the first rally driver to clinch the MSA Young Driver of the Year award.

With the backing of Peugeot Sport and Peugeot Financial Services, he will now take part in the remaining stages of the FIA ERC Junior Championship driving a Peugeot 208 R2. The model has already partnered Peugeot race drivers to several race wins and podium positions.

The 208 R2 rally car is a challenging and potent vehicle. Built to the ERC 'R2' specification standards, it showcases a flowing body shape with short overhangs and a reinforced shell. Power is derived from a competition version of Peugeot's 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine, lending 185bhp. There are also specific, precisely tuned 'gravel' and 'asphalt' versions of the car to take on international race circuits.

The road version of the new Peugeot 208 is one that's popular with drivers across the UK, and the rally R2 can be purchased as a pre-built vehicle. Discover the range at Charles Hurst Peugeot in Belfast – contact us to book a test drive.
