Visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed have witnessed Peugeot's unveiling of the 30 th Anniversary Limited Edition 208 GTi this past weekend.
Set for release in November 2014, this special edition marks a revision of Peugeot's iconic 205 GTi as a beefed up next-generation car. The annual Festival of Speed celebrates many motoring triumphs, but Peugeot's three-decade anniversary of such an iconic vehicle has drawn crowds from far and wide.
Specially designed for the Festival, the 208 GTi embodies the best of Goodwood with an appropriate power level of 208bhp. This limited-edition Peugeot features the marque's new Euro 6 1.6-litre engine which is able to develop up to 300Nm of torque, and is coupled with a six-speed manual transmission for classic sporty and athletic handling.
This weekend also marks one year since the official release of the 208 GTi Hatchback. Having enjoyed a particularly successful year, it is clear to see that Peugeot's high-performance credentials are as deserved as ever.
“As with any project of this type, there was a convergence of ideas and needs. Following on from the RCZ R, Peugeot Sport proposed that the Brand make a more radical version of the 208 GTi. At the same time the Brand thought about how best to celebrate 30 years of the Peugeot GTi in 2014," said Maxime Picat, Peugeot Brand CEO.
