The winter is still very much here!

RSS Feed

With the weather taking a turn for the worse over the last week or so we thought it was a good time to reiterate a few winter tips we provided before Christmas.

Now if you are like me you tend to expect February to be the turning point, when possibly the weather starts to look towards Spring time but unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon.  With temperatures falling to as low as minus 10 in other parts of the UK we are fairing ok in comparison but we still need to be prepared for the worst, especially when travelling.  Weather forecasters predict further spells of icy conditions.

Reports explain that easterly winds are being pushed in by a high-pressure system over Scandinavia and western Russia.  Now granted we do not have the worse of it, not by any stretch of the imagination and we are expected to have our daytime temperatures to stay in the single figures but with nighttime temperatures dipping to minus 2 we need to ensure we prepare ourselves and our cars for the early morning commute to work, school, university or wherever life takes you.

So in the fashion of being fully prepared we should all have a car winter emergency kit in our boots just incase.  This should include:

  • First Aid Kit
  • De-Icer and Ice Scraper
  • High Visibility Jacket
  • Torch
  • Foldable shovel
  • Blanket
