New Renault Clio
16th January 2012
Renault is launching a new Renault Clio at the Paris Motor Show this year. Renault have said the Clio is to be a more “emotional” design, better quality interior and driver focused with an overall improvement to the previous model.
This supermini car will only be available as a five-door and is to be much sportier, with a wider body and lower suspension. With its aggressive image the new Renault Clio design is influenced by the DeZir concept car.
Beatrice Foucher, Renault’s product manager announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, “The DeZir is the main reference point. Look to the new Twingo for even more clues, such as the more technical headlights, large diamond logo and black gloss grille.”
The decision not to produce a three-door is down to the sheer volume interested in the five-door, and it is expensive to invest in a three-door, making it less profitable.
The new Renault will have a choice of customisable interior and exterior options, in order to compete with its rival in the supermini sector, the Citroen DS3. Better quality materials will be used with the interior as well as a new infotainment system which is being developed with TomTom and is to feature downloadable apps.
