After motorsports success with a high-performance Mégane, Renault is
also revealing a spectacular new race car: the Renaultsport Trophy.
A teaser image showing just the roofline, spoiler and wheel arches of the car in side profile has been released online. The design of the Trophy is expected to be one of a kind and will represent the pinnacle of Renault craftsmanship.
Tests will soon be underway to finely tune the car's performance and engineering. The Trophy is scheduled to be an entrant in the 2015 World Series by Renault as part of a brand new category.
The car is designed and built solely for competition, fitted with a Sadev seven-speed sequential gearbox and a Nismo engine producing over 500bhp. With extensive carbon used in the construction, the model should weigh no more than 1.1 tonnes in total. Tyre maker Michelin is also developing a specialist set of tyres for the Trophy.
The Renaultsport Trophy will make an official debut at the 2014 Moscow International Automobile Salon, which is being held from August 27 to September 7.
