Vauxhall's latest version of the Cascada is their first four-seat convertible for seven decades. It's available to order now, in any of 10 paintwork colours and at two levels of trim.
The highlight of the Cascada is the electrically-folding soft roof. It can be specified in one of three colours to contrast with the body, and it operates in around 15 seconds. The roof can also be opened or closed at up to 30mph, quickly adapting to changeable weather. On top-down drives, the view through the rear window and the boot space are both generous.
Inside, there's plenty of space for up to four adults. At the higher specification level, both the front seats and steering wheel are heated - and full leather upholstery covers the cabin.
From launch, the Cascada is offered with a choice of four engines. New versions join the tried and tested petrol and diesel variants - including a 1.6-litre turbo charged petrol. This particular engine scores highly for both power and performance, delivering 168bhp and 54.3mpg combined. It's supported by both a six-speed gearbox and a new Hiperstrut front suspension system.
In design and features, Vauxhall has deliberately built the convertible to share numerous components with the Insignia and Astra. Safety has also been carried over from the two models, helping to ensure the Cascada a five-star EuroNCAP rating. The car is equipped with spring-loaded rollover protection bars, four airbags, active headrests and electronic driver supports.
