This is extra-sensory stimulation. Cars with soul and power to make you feel alive, electrified and inspired. Driver-focused, performance machines that just demand to be drive.
Advances in automotive technology have diluted the modern driving experience to the point where many of today's 'performance' cars have become soulless and uncommunicative. You feel like you are being driven: you feel disconnected.
VXR changes all that. VXR is here to reconnect the driver with the road - not with a wire, but with a heart beat. There's a choice of three VXR models and from time to time, Special Editions details of which can be found on the Vauxhall website - www.vxr.co.uk.
Every VXR is a focused performance machine - the kind of car you want to be driving if you like to get up in the middle of the night for a blast, just for the hell of it. If you are that type of person, then you've got VXR in your blood.
You just might not know it yet.
Vauxhall has launched its latest high performance road car, the Insignia Supersport VXR, and it is one of the fastest and most powerful cars available in its price bracket. Powered by a twin turbo-charged 2.8-litre V6e engine, which produces 321bhp and sends its power to all four wheels via 6-speed transmission, this model delivers truly impressive performance. Having had its speed limiter removed the car can race to a top speed of 170mph – an improvement of 15mph on its predecessor – and it can reach 60mph in just 5.6 seconds.
To cope with the extra speed the VXR Supersport is fitted with Brembo brakes and Vauxhall's HiPerStrut front suspension to improve handling in all weather conditions, while FlexRide, an adaptive damping system, comes as standard. The power of the engine is thanks, in no small part, to a micro-alloy forged steel crank, classic 60-degree cylinder angle and die-cast alloy sump.
Vauxhall has made sure that the external styling reflects what it claims is the most powerful car in its price range – with the front aspect dominated by vents and grilles to keep the V6e engine cool at high speeds.
