Vivaro – the Vauxhall Special Edition Lifestyle Van - is due to be unveiled at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, and is the ideal vehicle for sporting activities. Roomy and spacious it can accommodate five to six passengers (depending on the seating configuration) along with sport and fitness equipment.
Offering a separate cargo area of 3.2m3 (4.0m3 for the long wheelbase version) the Vivaro Surf Concept easily transports wet or dirty items after a trip to the beach or to the mountains in the large cargo area. Performance, looks and practicality are rarely found in the one package, yet the Vivaro has it all.
Finished with a shiny copper-brown paintwork and customised Irmscher alloys it will no doubt turn heads while on the roads!
The lifestyle van shows its full functionality once the doors and tailgate are opened – either manually or via Keyless Open. The floor of the cargo area is fitted with a newly-developed rail system; the entire width under the second row of seats is used for a storage box that can hold small items. The specialist interior - installed by the legendary Snoeks Automotive, includes blue lighting in the sidewalls and the roof liner.
Stylish and above all helpful equipment features can found in the passenger cabin: the Irmscher Tourer Pack, already available for the standard Vivaro, with fine black leather and contrasting silver stitching on the side trim panels, the dashboard and the gear shifter gives the Vivaro Surf Concept a sophisticated passenger car flair. Premium-quality velour mats have been used for the floor, making the interior of the Vivaro cozier and quieter as the velour linings reduce driving noise considerably.
The new automatic climate control ensures ideal temperatures inside the vehicle. The lifestyle van even comes with an optional parking heater. In addition, the passengers in the second row gain access comfortably via sliding doors on either side.
On the roof, the Surf Concept has a special surfboard bracket so that longboard fans don’t have to go on holiday without their beloved board.
Ready for production with powerful engine and air suspension
Powered by a 1.6-litre CDTi (140PS) BiTurbo, it mobilises 340Nm of torque and propels the Vivaro Surf Concept to a top speed of 112mph.
The notion of comfort is also featured in the suspension system. The air suspension at the rear axle compensates for all sorts of bumps in the road guaranteeing passengers a comfortable journey.
“The Vivaro Surf Concept is the ideal vehicle for large families or groups of friends,” said Steffen Raschig, Vauxhall/Opel Director Commercial Vehicles. “The close-to-production concept offers space for up to six passengers with its crew cab. There is a large cargo area with numerous practical details behind the second row of seats. The sporty styling on the outside and numerous comfort features along with the ultra-modern IntelliLink system on the inside make it an elegant roomy van. The Vivaro Surf Concept is the perfect alternative for people who need more than a passenger car but do not want to miss out on the usual comfort.”
Vivaro production will soon start as a “Limited Edition”.
