Vauxhall's new Viva teased for the first time

Previous reports pointed towards a new affordable city car from Vauxhall, and now the brand has confirmed rumours by teasing an image of the incoming vehicle. As expected, the new car will revive the Viva model name, and its full reveal is believed to be at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

The preview image only shows the Viva's silhouette, with a striking red paint finish seen over the curved bonnet, streamlined roof and neat integrated rear spoiler. The vehicle will join the ADAM and Corsa among Vauxhall's most compact examples, and will have its very own identity. Where the ADAM leads with distinctive styling inside and out, the Viva will attract buyers through its spacious and comfortable cabin. New softer suspension will also reportedly be included, according to Auto Express, meaning a smoother ride will be enjoyed.

All current-generation Vauxhall city cars are offered with small and refined engines, and the Viva should follow this trend. A responsive and clean three-cylinder 1.0-litre unit is probable for under the bonnet, with high fuel economy and CO 2 emissions below 100g/km.

When the Viva arrives, it will be the first time since 1979 that a production car has held the model name. The original was also a small family vehicle, and this latest variant will no doubt be equally as popular.

You can test drive the new Viva when it's released with Lookers Vauxhall in Liverpool, Birmingham, Wirral and Cheshire, and experience all of the brand's models by enquiring today.
