new Yamaha Bikes tested for first time
7th February 2012
The 2012 MotoGP championship is only two months from getting underway and the Yamaha team seem to be making all of the right preparations to be ready for the new season.
The first test of the 2012 1000cc MotoGP season took place over three days at the Sepang international race circuit in Malaysia, and the team worked hard to optimise the new Yamaha YZR-M1 bikes to ensure they were completely ready for the first race which takes place in April.
The main point of concentration for the team was to focus on the balance of the chassis as well as optimising the electronics package in order to increase the engine horsepower. Yamaha driver Jorge Lorenzo finished in second place overall with a time of 2.00.198 just behind 1st place Caey Stoner, whilst his Yamaha teammate Ben Spies finished fourth with a time of 2.00.495.
Here at Charles Hurst Yamaha we can’t wait for the 2012 MotoGP championship to get going and will be sure to keep you updated with the teams progress with the new Yamaha bikes in the months ahead.
