The 2014 Wheels & Waves event held in late June 2014 saw thousands of motorbike enthusiast gather on the French coast to showcase their custom models, including those from Yamaha.
The Japanese manufacturer was represented in Biarritz by many stunning Yard Built creations from a number of leading builders including The Bender Brothers, Deus Ex Machina, Wrenchmonkees and Roland Sands. Visitors were also treated to the reveal of new machines, including a stunning SR400 'Homage' example from Germany's Bender Brothers. The real-life brothers drew inspiration from Yamaha's XT500 to craft the model, and used a stripped back SR400 as the foundation.
Italy's Deus Ex Machina was another group that looked to Yamaha for their recent project, as they paid tribute to 35 years of the SR project by bringing along the Deus SR400 Lightning. A compact 400 was transformed from a lightweight machine to a rugged scrambler, and original materials of aluminium, fibreglass, steel and rubber all featured to retain a classic feel.
The full range of Yard Built Yamaha's can be viewed on the brand's European Facebook page, where an image gallery shows off numerous other magnificent creations based on the firm's bikes.
