Citroën reveals a new Divine DS concept
5th September 2014
In advance of the Paris Motor Show in October 2014, Citroën has previewed a new look for the DS range in the form of a Divine DS concept car.
The line is expected to become a stand-alone range alongside the rest of Citroën's vehicles, and will have even greater appeal following the redesign. The manufacturer already sells DS cars completely separately to its other offerings in China.
In a bold new move, the of the Divine DS is not based on any prior Citroën – or a preview of a scheduled future car. It is instead a visual preview of the entire DS range.
As the DS brand CEO Yves Bonnefont explains:
“Divine DS is an expression of our expertise. This concept car is the very essence of what DS is and what it will be. A perfect alliance between sophistication and technology. Unveiled just a few weeks after the birth of the brand, Divine DS perfectly expresses the unique personality of DS."
A large diamond-patterned front grille and flowing chrome accents ensure that the concept is not recognisably Citroën at this stage. The interior is expected to be highly customisable, with three luxurious 'ambiences' which can be switched out. 'Male' features leather and natural carbon fibre, 'Parisienne Chic' includes satin and crystals, and the top-end 'Fatale Punk' is decorated in genuine Swarovski Crystal Fabric.
The advanced design of the Divine DS is matched by the holographic display, laser indicators and new 1.6-litre turbo engine at 270bhp. The prototype claims compliance with the newest guidelines on CO2 emissions, at a minimum of 145g/km.
