Charles Hurst Jaguar was delighted to support students of Lisburn Central Primary School ahead of their Sentinus Formula 1 Schools' Challenge 2018, by donating branded hoodies to all those who are taking part in the contest. Lisburn Central Primary won the Northern Ireland final in 2014 and again in 2016 so we are keeping our fingers tightly crossed for another successful win.
On Tuesday 20th February 2018, we had the pleasure of welcoming some of the P7 students to our Boucher Road Showroom for a special visit. The students received a walking tour by General Manager Paul Chesney and unsurprisingly - the model that seemed to receive the most attention was the amazing F-TYPE!
About the Challenge
Sentinus, in conjunction with the Education Authority, is organising the Formula 1 Challenge for the 2017/18 school year. Spanning age ranges of 8 to 11, its main aim is to help change young peoples’ perceptions of engineering, science and technology through exciting learning opportunities. The Sentinus F1 Challenge is a multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of pupils design, manufacture, test, and race their very own miniature gas powered balsa wood F1 car. The challenge is an appropriate topic to dovetail with a range of aspects of the primary curriculum. Primary schools wishing to enter can create a template of their car out of plasticine and then have the balsa wood car manufactured from this using the Sentinus technical support team.
The finals take place on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th April at Ballymena North Business & Recreation Centre.
Thank you to Lisburn Centrals's Principal, Ian Stewart and P7 Teacher Rodney Brown for allowing the pupils to experience the art of performance at Charles Hurst Jaguar - we wish you all the best of luck with the Challenge!
