Nissan takes home two Auto Express 2014 awards

The 2014 Auto Express Awards have now been claimed by manufacturers and their vehicles – and Nissan can boast a pair of wins this year. The Best Crossover is the all-new Qashqai, and the Safety Award has been claimed by the intelligent Nissan Safety Shield system.

Built in the UK, the Qashqai comes to drivers packed with forward-thinking and clever additions to the equipment, technology and safety lists. The version of the model claiming the award was the 1.5 dCi Acenta Premium, which leads for efficiency at just 99g/km of CO2 emissions and 74.3mpg peak combined fuel economy.

Steve Fowler, Auto Express Editor-in-Chief, praised the vehicle while presenting the award: "The new Qashqai is an incredibly impressive car, taking all the best bits of the original model, but adding a new level of sheen to everything from the comfort to the quality." The judging panel also agreed that the Qashqai demonstrates “a new standard of refinement, quality, practicality and, of course, safety in the crossover sector."

The Safety Shield's success is down to its intelligent measures and advances in driving innovation. Up to seven systems are included in the comprehensive package, such as Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Moving Object Detection and High Beam Assist.

Drivers seeking the advantages of the Nissan Safety Shield can find the system available with the all-new Qashqai, Note, X-Trail and Juke.
