GHIBLI VERSIONS

A core offering of all Maserati vehicles is the ability to cover long distances comfortably at high speed. With the Ghibli, the power that delivers this experience comes from a choice of two V6 petrol engines and a V6 diesel.

ZF eight-speed automatic transmission

The sophisticated ZF eight-speed automatic transmission in the Maserati Ghibli puts a world of possibilities in the palm of your hand. The advanced design of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission ensures precise gear changes and optimum performance, giving you complete control over the power of the Ghibli engines. Thanks to auto-adaptive software, the transmission modifies its shift patterns according to your driving style, for an even more rewarding, one-to-one driving experience. When it comes to long, high-speed journeys, the last two gears, seventh and eighth, are specially calibrated to reduce fuel consumption and further increase comfort. The transmission sends power to the rear wheels of all Ghibli versions via a mechanical Limited-Slip Differential. This ensures superb traction in even challenging situations.

Infotainment and APP connectivity

The interior of the Ghibli is built around a driver interface that is intuitive, uncluttered and simple to use. The instrument cluster features large analogue gauges for the tachometer and speedometer, alongside a 7” TFT display. The 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit takes pride of place at the centre of the Ghibli dashboard. With very few buttons and a highly responsive interface, it is designed to help the driver maintain focus on the road ahead - using it is straightforward. In addition, MTC+ controls the front seat heating, as well as the ventilation, steering wheel heating and the operation of the rear sunblind, where fitted. The screen also displays the rear view depicted by the reversing camera, with guidelines for easy of use. The state-of-the-art system features both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® mirroring functions. In addition, for iPhone® users, Apple’s Siri® system acts as a personal assistant, allowing them to carry out tasks using voice command. Through naturally spoken language, it is possible to make a call or access music, messages, reminders, emails, websites and much more. The infotainment system also includes an Aux-in, USB sockets and the SD card reader.

Full-LED Adaptive Matrix Headlights

With anti-glare high-beam assist.

The GranLusso and GranSport are fitted with Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights that further sharpen the Maserati's striking appearance, significantly improve visibility and lower energy usage. They also offer remarkably long bulb life. With 15 LEDs operating at full beam, these headlights offer a 200% greater field of vision than traditional halogen lights. Road illumination extends by 55 metres and bulb longevity is roughly twice as long. Its glare-free technology enables drivers to gain the full benefits of their headlights without affecting oncoming vehicles. This uses a digital camera behind the rear-view mirror to detect approaching vehicles. It then directs the light away from the other vehicles, leaving them untroubled by glare. The surrounding areas, meanwhile, are safely and effectively lit with near-daylight illumination.

Weight distribution, suspension and brakes

50:50 weight distribution

Lightweight construction, intelligent systems and trusted principles are key to the inimitable pleasures of grand touring in the Maserati Ghibli. With the Ghibli range, this is demonstrated by a rigid and extremely secure steel cell, using an array of steel and aluminium alloys. Together, the configuration maximises strength, minimises weight and retains the sports saloon’s perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

Skyhook suspensions

The Ghibli GranSport features the Skyhook suspension as standard, with shock absorbers delivering continuous damping variation. The system uses sensors that monitor the movement of each wheel and the car’s body to determine the road conditions and how the car is being driven. It then instantly adjusts the settings of each damper accordingly.

Brakes

All versions of the Maserati Ghibli feature powerful Brembo brakes carefully matched to engine performance. The discs are dual-cast, combining the strength of cast iron with the lightness of aluminium to reduce unsprung mass, therefore increasing handling prowess.

Harman Kardon Premium Sound System

Immersive audio.

The exhilaration of the drive, the luxurious comforts and the dramatically tuned engine note are not the only onboard entertainment. You also have some exceptional audio system choices. The optional Harman Kardon Premium Sound system offers the most elevated levels of audio refinement, with every component uniquely tailored to perfectly match the Ghibli interior. To achieve this, Harman Kardon sound engineers worked very closely with the development team at Maserati. The core of the system is a state-of-the-art, 900-watt amplifier, delivering rich and detailed sound quality, whatever the source − be it radio, MP3 player, iPhone® or audio streaming device. No fewer than 12 independent channels are deployed, for superb balance within the car environment. A special high-performance subwoofer handles the low-end frequencies, while the mid-range drivers and tweeters ensure that every instrument and every artist can be appreciated in full. 10 high-powered speakers carefully distributed throughout the cabin guarantees sublime sound for all on board the Ghibli.

Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system

The Aficionado's Choice.

For those seeking the ultimate acoustics in their Maserati Ghibli, the answer is the optional new-generation Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system – the last word in sound perfection. Fifteen speakers, with mid-range drivers and rear woofers made from Kevlar®, have been strategically built into the car’s architecture, while a 1,280-watt amplifier ensures immersive sound for all on board. Advanced aluminium tweeters capture the faintest audio subtleties, while a rock-solid bass is delivered by Rohacell® - a stiff, highly resilient material often used in the construction of rockets and aircraft. The Bowers & Wilkins system is compatible with most disc formats and features a built-in USB connector for a smartphone, iPod or MP3 player. Alternatively, tracks can be streamed directly either via Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto®.
