Nissan LEAF is named the UK’s most reliable used electric car – with a ‘standout’ performance

The Nissan LEAF, with the latest version arriving at Charles Hurst Nissan very soon, has once again been named the UK’s most reliable used electric car.

New analysis by Warranty Solutions Group reviewed a sample of 1,000 real world repair claims paid on electric vehicle warranties issued between January and December 2025.

The data highlights clear differences in both fault rates and repair costs across some of the UK’s most popular electric models, offering valuable insight for drivers considering a used electric car and for retailers alike.

The Nissan LEAF topped the reliability rankings with an impressively low claim rate of just 1.52 per cent, making it a reassuring choice for anyone looking to buy a used electric vehicle. For customers seeking confidence and peace of mind, the Nissan LEAF continues to stand out in the growing EV market.

A Nissan representative said: “This survey uses feedback from real world customers about the reliability of their vehicles, and it highlights the consistently strong performance of the Nissan LEAF.

“For customers who are new to electric vehicle technology or considering making the switch for the first time, reliability is incredibly important. We know our customers value the Nissan LEAF for its practicality and efficiency, so it is fantastic to see this reflected in an independent reliability survey.”

The pioneering Nissan LEAF was first launched in the UK in 2011, with production beginning in Sunderland in 2013. Since then, it has become one of the most recognisable and trusted electric cars on UK roads.

The second generation model arrived in 2018, offering enhanced technology and increased driving range. This means there is a wide selection of used Nissan LEAF models available, providing an accessible and affordable route into electric car ownership.

Looking ahead, the all new Nissan LEAF, offering a range of up to 386 miles on a single charge, will be arriving at Charles Hurst Nissan soon. Proudly built in Britain, the new model also qualifies for the full Electric Car Grant of £3,750^, making electric driving even more attainable.

Martin Binnee, Operations Director at Warranty Solutions Group, said: “The LEAF’s long established electric drivetrain, straightforward engineering and proven durability have all contributed to its outstanding reliability, helping to deliver dependable ownership with fewer faults.”
