There are four main car finance options when you buy a new car with Charles Hurst:
• Hire purchase – you provide an initial deposit, then pay off the remaining loan balance in monthly instalments. Once fully paid, you will own the vehicle fully.
• Personal contract hire – pay a deposit, contribute monthly payments for a set time period – confirmed at the start of the agreement – then return the vehicle once the agreement has ended.
• Personal contract purchase – make an initial deposit, pay off the amount you borrow to obtain the vehicle in agreed instalments, then pay a dealer-agreed final payment, in order to receive full ownership of the vehicle at term end.
• Personal loan – take out a secured or unsecured loan with a bank, building society or finance company and use the funds to pay for a new vehicle. Loan can be paid off over a set number of years, at a fixed interest rate.

It depends. You’ll pay a set amount of tax based on the car’s CO2 emissions in the first year. If your car is worth more than £40,000, you’ll have to pay an additional rate of £320, on top of the standard rate for five years.
