At Charles Hurst Nissan, we’re delighted to bring you a closer look at the latest iteration of the Nissan Qashqai e‑Power. With its innovative hybrid setup, it's designed to deliver an electric‑vehicle‑feel without the hassle of charging stations!
What makes the Qashqai e‑Power different?
The Qashqai e‑Power uses a unique powertrain: while the front wheels are driven entirely by an electric motor, a petrol engine functions solely as a generator. This means you enjoy EV‑style drive behaviour — quiet, smooth, instantaneous — yet you still refuel conventionally. Auto Express emphasises that this delivers a “genuinely EV‑like drive … without the driver having to worry about range or charging.” Auto Express
With the third generation of this system, Nissan has consolidated its components into a “five‑in‑one electric drive unit” (shared with the latest Leaf) for better efficiency, lower noise and fewer vibrations. Auto Express
On‑road Feel
Around town, the Qashqai e‑Power does feel very EV‑like and refined. However, in their test Auto Express did pick up a slight delay in accelerator response under some conditions, which limits the full illusion of an electric‑only drive.
The vehicle also features an enhanced one‑pedal style regenerative braking mode (called e‑Pedal by Nissan). In traffic this is effective, though on faster roads the brake‑feel was found to be a touch less natural.
Technology, Comfort & Practicality
As expected from Nissan and from what we’d always emphasise at Charles Hurst Nissan, the cabin of the new Qashqai e‑Power offers high‑spec materials, intelligent technology and generous space for families. The improved refinement and efficiency combine to make this model a very sensible choice for everyday use in Northern Ireland’s mix of urban and rural roads.
Our Verdict
The Qashqai with e‑Power delivers an appealing compromise: the smoothness and responsiveness of EV‑type driving, paired with the convenience of a petrol generator. It’s an excellent fit for those who want the near‑silent ease of an EV but without the reliance on public charging infrastructure.
If you’re considering an SUV with strong efficiency credentials, modern technology and the kind of everyday practicality that suits commutes, school‑runs or weekend jaunts, we at Charles Hurst Nissan believe the Qashqai e‑Power deserves a serious look.
