Nissan X-Trail Successfully Defends Its Crown At The 2024 Tow Car Awards

The Nissan X-Trail has picked up a prestigious accolade at the 2024 Tow Car Awards, run by What Car? in partnership with the Camping and Caravanning Club.

The successful version of X-Trail was the Tekna-grade model from the line-up, equipped with a 213bhp engine plus e-POWER and e-4ORCE technology. The car triumphed in the 1700-1999kg category of the awards for the second consecutive year.

Solid and Secure

The judges noted that X-Trail has ‘‘plenty of power for towing, pulling an Adria caravan from 30-60mph in 8.9 seconds’’. They added: ‘‘X-Trail comfortably reached motorway speeds, even into a strong headwind.

"It’s a solid and secure tow car on all types of roads. This version’s four-wheel-drive system further helps it take wet weather in its stride, with hill starts proving free of drama. In everyday use, the X-Trail is spacious, comfortable and mostly quiet. There’s hardly a murmur at a steady cruise.’’

What Car? and the Camping and Caravanning Club have been working together to identify the cars best suited to the unique demands of towing since 2007 – and X-Trail is clearly perfect for the job.

The car boasts a muscular design and advanced technologies which deliver an effortless EV drive feeling thanks to Nissan’s e-POWER technology and the manufacturer’s twin-motor e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system.

Available as a five- or seven-seater, X-Trail offers a convenient option for days out with family or friends. As an electrified seven-seat SUV, it is unrivalled in its segment.

Hugely Rewarding

Steve Huntingford, Editor, What Car?, said: “X-Trail is a great tow car that is also enjoyable to drive solo. Congratulations to Nissan on a second consecutive win in the all-important 1700-1999kg category of this year’s Tow Car Awards.”

A Nissan spokesperson added: ‘‘Naturally, we are delighted that X-Trail with e-POWER has been recognised once again.

‘‘We are well aware of X-Trail’s excellent towcar credentials, of course, but to have its abilities evaluated and praised by two such highly respected organisations as What Car? and the Camping and Caravanning Club is hugely rewarding.”
