Nissan Leaf Named 2026 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year

The Nissan Leaf has taken top honours at the 2026 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year awards, succeeding the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Nissan Leaf, arriving soon to Charles Hurst Nissan, has earned the prestigious title of the 2026 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year, following in the footsteps of the 2025 winner, the Hyundai Santa Fe.

A panel of 86 female motoring journalists from 55 countries selected the Leaf for its remarkable practicality and exceptional efficiency.

What made the Nissan Leaf stand out among its competitors? The jury highlighted its “realistic approach to electric mobility” and praised its ability to provide “one of the most intuitive electric driving experiences available today.”

For those looking to make the switch to electric, the Leaf offers an all-encompassing solution for everyday driving.

Additional Achievements

In addition to being named the overall winner, the Nissan Leaf also clinched the title of Compact Car of 2026, underscoring its versatility and appeal within its category.

A Glimpse of the Latest Nissan Leaf

Launched in March 2025, the third-generation Nissan Leaf features an all-new design, replacing the previous hatchback with a sleek subcompact crossover appearance. Built on the same platform as the larger Nissan Ariya, the Leaf offers a substantial improvement in range, with up to 600km on a single charge.

A Proud Moment for Nissan

“New LEAF being named overall winner by the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year is a proud moment for everyone at Nissan,” said Ivan Espinosa, President & CEO, Nissan.

“LEAF helped bring electric driving into the mainstream, and this new generation carries that mission forward. It’s designed to make going electric easier and more enjoyable for more people around the world.”
