An automatic transmission will manage gear changes on behalf of the driver. Automatic Cars often referred to as an 'Automatic' or 'Auto', do not contain a clutch pedal, making them more straightforward to operate as a driver.
Many customers choose an automatic as it allows the driver to concentrate on navigating the road and managing their journey. This is due to users of automatic vehicles not being required to think about when to change gear, and don’t have to wrestle with finding “the biting point” of the clutch and acceleration at the right moment.
Another difference is the Gear leaver layout:
P (parking) – R (reverse) – N (neutral) – D (drive) – 2 (2nd gear) – 1 (1st gear).
While it may take some practice to drive an automatic car – keeping in mind that only one foot is required to control the brake and accelerator – many actually prefer the driving experience of an Automatic Transmission Vehicle.

Absolutely furious with this dealership, haven't had my car a week and already there's a mechanical problem with it. Also the mot runs out on the 4th of June and they told me to book it and they would pay for it...haven't received a penny yet even though I have showed them the receipt. Charles hurst Told me they would sort the finance on the car I've traded in but didn't so I woke up this morning to two car payments being taken out at an extra cost of £240. They are taking our car in to look at on Monday but it's to be sent to belfast, and they haven't give us a courtesy car as of yet. If I had of knew this would of been the level of service we'd receive then we wouldn't of bothered buying from here. Haven't had as much as a apology from them as yet.
Hi I recently had my KIA EV6 GT in for the first service. I had explained to the person taking the booking of a couple of things that I would like someone to take a look at during the service. The booking was initially taken with approximately 4 weeks prior to the appointment. I was contacted the week before the appointment to inform me that there would be no courtesy car available and that I would have to re-schedule. No big issue, another date was scheduled for Monday 11th May. I was contacted again by phone on Saturday 9th May to say that the only courtesy car available was a Picanto City Car and would that be suitable - I would preferred something bigger as i had a 100miles round trip to do, but again no big issue. The staff at Belfast were great - friendly and hospitable. I received a video of the technician walking under the car and explaining that all was in order. I then rang to ask if the car was ready - this is when things went downhill in my opinion. When I asked if the items that I had asked to be checked on were looked into I was told that there was just one thing. I had listed 1. Rusted brake caliper studs. The calipers on this model are a stand out feature but in my case the rusted studs were unsightly. The guy on the desk said there wasn't much could be done here! 2. The air re-circulation keeps coming on in the car with no notice and the car steams up very quickly resulting in having to open windows to get it cleared quickly. It is dangerous sometimes as it happens so suddenly. I was told that this was not listed on the service sheet and that I should try playing about with it. I can assure you that I had already done some playing about with it. 3. The rear seatbelt warning light comes on when no-one is in the rear of the vehicle - again this was not listed to be checked. So I still have these issues - they might not seem like much but these are the things that help you decide when making the next purchase. So my overall summary would be - not impressed
I recently purchased a Suzuki SX4 S-Cross 2018 from Charles Hurst Suzuki Newtownards through Jack Henderson, who was the salesperson that sold me the car. Unfortunately, this has been one of the most stressful car-buying experiences I’ve had. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, I noticed serious issues including: • No coolant in the vehicle when I bought it • Coolant leaking after I refilled it • Heavy white smoke from the exhaust • Rattling noise from the exhaust • Fluid leaking from the engine/gearbox area I documented everything with photos and videos and was told by Charles Hurst Group to contact RAC to inspect the vehicle. RAC inspected the car, identified a potential engine gasket leak and coolant leak, and advised me not to drive the vehicle. They arranged for the car to be transported by truck to the nearest Charles Hurst Group garage, which was Charles Hurst Renault Newtownabbey. When I informed Stephen Green about this, I was asked why the car had been sent to Newtownabbey. This was never my decision — RAC arranged transport because they advised the car should not be driven. When I contacted Jack Henderson for help, I was told that he could not do anything and that it was no longer his responsibility. Given the serious issues discovered shortly after purchase, I wasn’t even asking for a refund — I simply asked Jack Henderson if the vehicle could be replaced with a healthy car, and that request was refused. When I asked for a courtesy car, I was initially told it was RAC’s responsibility to provide one. After multiple phone calls and repeated follow-ups, Charles Hurst Group eventually arranged a courtesy rental vehicle. When I contacted Samuel Russell at Charles Hurst Renault Newtownabbey for an update, I was told that it doesn’t matter that I’ve only had the car for a week, that it would take a couple of days to inspect and even longer to repair. Even now, I’m still left uncertain about what exactly is wrong with my car and what is happening with the repairs. When a customer reports major issues shortly after purchase (within a week), I believe the situation should be handled with urgency, communication, and accountability. Instead, I’ve felt passed around between departments while dealing with a vehicle that should never have been sold in this condition. While I appreciate that a rental car was eventually arranged, it still comes with added stress and restrictions that I wouldn’t be dealing with if my vehicle had been sold in proper condition. I would prefer a proper replacement vehicle or a more suitable long-term solution while my car is being repaired, rather than dealing with the uncertainty and responsibility that comes with a rental vehicle. I hope someone senior at Charles Hurst Group sees this and helps bring this situation to a proper resolution. Very disappointing experience.
